Yakult

Yakult is a fermented milk drink containing a high concentration of the beneficial bacteria Lacticaseibacillus paracasei Shirota (LcS) strain.

This unique strain, exclusive to Yakult, was discovered by Dr. Minoru Shirota in 1930. LcS belongs to the Lacticaseibacillus genus and is a homo-fermentative bacterium. Unlike hetero-fermentative bacteria, which produce acetic acid, ethanol, or carbon dioxide alongside lactic acid, homo-fermentative bacteria produce only lactic acid during fermentation.
