Global Grants for Gut Health
What is the Global Grants for Gut Health?
The Global Grants for Gut Health is a competitive program for investigator-initiated research into the human gut microbiota, supported by Yakult and Nature Portfolio. It funds one-year research projects, whether laboratory investigations or clinical studies, to advance understanding of the mechanisms by which gut microbiota impact human health. This initiative aligns with our company philosophy and commitment of promoting global health and happiness through excellence in life sciences research, particularly in the field of microorganisms.
New Focus for 2024
Microbiology researchers have long studied gut bacteria’s role in human health. However, the human digestive system hosts a rich ecosystem of microbial and non-microbial components with complex interactions. The 2024 call for applications seeks proposals going beyond the bacterial microbiome to elucidate mechanisms of interaction between the host, microbial, and non-microbial microbiomes in the gut.
Aim of the Program
The programme aims to support scientific research that develops new insights, data, and methodologies, ultimately advancing the understanding of the gut microbiota’s impact on human health.
The role of Yakult and Nature Portfolio
Yakult supports the funding of this program, while Nature Portfolio conducts and delivers the program. The final decision for the grants is carried out by an independent panel of internationally renowned researchers, without involvement from Yakult or Nature portfolio.
